This home is located in Tallulah Falls, Georgia, just up the mountain from Tallulah Lake. We purchased the house in April, 2018 for use as a part time second home, and are now ready to share it with you! Our home has high end finishes, a well equipped kitchen, and wonderful new beds with quality mattressess and linens. There is an amazing view from the screened porch off the open family room, where we see gorgeous sunsets nearly every evening. Access to the house is one and a half miles up a gently curving two lane paved road off Highway 441. Tallulah Gorge State Park is accessible on the other side of the lake, and has many walking and biking trails. Our favorite takes you on a shaded walk beside the Tallulah River. Tallulah Gorge is just across the street. We provide two State Park passes for your use during a stay at our house. We are very centrally located, with the town of Clayton 12 miles away, and the town of Clarkesville 11 miles away. Helen is about a 30 minute drive, and Highlands, NC is about a 45 minute drive. There are excellent restaurants nearby in both Clayton and Clarkesville, as well as great shops with local art, treasures, and furniture. You have full access to the home with the exception of the unfinished basement and an upstairs closet. We have a smart lock on the front door for access. Other things to note This is a no smoking property. This includes the home and outside space of the property. You will lose your deposit if anyone smokes in the home. No parties or large gatherings. Cabin with 225 ft of outdoor waterfront access on the Tallulah River. The Tallulah River Cabin has been a rental gem for 20 years now. We've bought this incredible waterfront property in Feb. 2020 and have put a lot of time, energy, and dreaming into it. The outdoor fire pit is the best place to relax with loved ones while they fish, swim, tube, sway in the hammock or grill some burgers, dogs, and steaks. The waterfront porch is a very relaxing place to enjoy coffee, meals, and drinks. And while the outdoor area is one of a kind, the interior of the small, quaint cabin has a comfortable 3 seat couch (2 recline) and recliner (that you can view the water from), a Samsung TV/DVD player with movies to choose from and all modern streaming services, a great nook table which can also double as counter space if needed, a three tier beverage cart for additional counter space and cooking supplies. The smaller, custom built spiral staircase leads up to the built-in bunk beds with soft comforters and sheets. From here a custom built barn door separates this space from the queen size bed, also with very comfortable, soft bedding. Please note the stairs are smaller than normal spiral staircases. The beds upstairs are not handicap accessible. The house, built in 1985, sits on a wooded lot above the lake. Once you arrive, drop your bags, open the french doors and walk onto the spacious screened-in porches surrounded by trees and mountain laurel. You can hear the waterfall flowing at the end of the cove… breathe-in fresh mountain air and let your vacation begin! Overall, we think this home sleeps 6 adults comfortably with 3 double beds in private rooms. There is also a bunk room and 2 sleeping lofts. PLEASE NOTE: the lofts are not ideal for younger children because of the height and vertical ladders. The upper level has a kitchen, dining/living area, screened porch, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, bunk room for 4 and 2 separate sleeping lofts. The lower level has a bedroom, bathroom, large comfortable living area with television, Wii, games/books, bunk beds and an adjacent laundry room. French doors lead to a screened porch with a ping pong table and corn hole boards. Dozens of steps through the trees will take you down to the 2-level boathouse, which is stocked with floats and canoes. There is very little boat traffic in this cove — an ideal situation for swimmers. Hall’s Marina is just across the lake and visible from the boathouse. There is parking for 3 cars. PLEASE NOTE: the driveway is very steep. Drivers will probably want to put their vehicle in a low gear. This is not an ideal driveway for large vans or trailers. (Please take this into consideration before making travel plans.) Lakemont shopping area is an 8 minute drive. Steep pine panelled stairway with heart pine steps up to loft , and another down to lower level. A slice of Canada in the far Northeast corner of Georgia with mature hardwoods: tall white pines, spruce, hemlock and fir trees . The house is settled on a slope with 100 steps through woods down to boathouse, and close to dirt road behind it. Property includes buffer of over 8 steep forested acres on Mt. Macy across dirt road . The two story boathouse sits on the lake, complete with a partly covered upper deck plus adjoining dock with slide and swimming cove. Great for entertaining or enjoying cocktails while watching the sunset over the Georgia mountains. Boathouse comes with a canoe and 2 kayaks, but power boats and boathouse boat hoists are EXCLUDED. Power boats and ski do's may be rented separately from independent boat rental companies, and attached to dock by two sets of (outside) boatwhips on either side of the boathouse during the rental. The boathouse offers a perfect setting for a hot summer's day swim, relaxing on floats, or fishing off of the dock. The boathouse also offers a slide, fun for young children. There is a tiny beach area in the foliage behind the dock on which the slide is located, where supervised young children can play in shallow water. Otherwise the water is 37 feet deep off the boathouse. . Birdwatcher's paradise: wide variety of birds come to the feeders, and if you are quiet about an hour before midnight, the fearless FLYING SQUIRRELS will quietly swoop in to the feeders on the broad treetops deck, often in groups. Other wildlife sighted on the property include an adult Black Bear doing a pirouette on our deck railing to reach the bird feeder, black racers, bullfrogs, water snakes, crows, numerous birds, chipmunks, squirrels, deer , bees and a wide variety of fish , some quite large. A vaulted ceiling greets you upon entering the large great room. Wood floors and board and batten walls are accented by rustic decor and animal antlers. An open dining area with a country farm table adjoins the great room with easy access to a galley kitchen. Off the kitchen/dining room is a half-covered porch in a lush, wooded and private setting... ideal for sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. The main floor has a bedroom and shared full bath. Upstairs has a sleeping loft and the master bedroom with its own full bath. A second larger covered deck sits below the house with a grill and plenty of room for lounging in a perfect spot for outdoor dining and entertaining. New to the vacation rental market!! Welcome to Lazy Escape Cabin! Our cabin does not have windy roads or scary drives! We are conveniently located right off of Highway 76 E, and within 10 minutes of downtown Clayton, Walmart, Ingle's, Kingwood Golf resort, Goats on the Roof and so much more. Our cabin is cozy and comfortable, with 4 bedrooms + loft (5th bedroom) on 3 levels. There are 2 kitchens, 2 full bathrooms, dining room and a family room. Best of all, we are located on 3.5 acres, with 2 beautiful ponds stocked with plenty of fish! Our cabin was completely remodeled in 2018. Please know that: 1. We have a separate Mitsubishi AC for each floor. (3 ACs total.) We do not have a central AC system. Each system comes with its own remote control. (The ACs can warm and cool.) 2. We are located near Highway 76E, so there will be some road noise during the day. But this highway is very quiet at night. 3. The ponds have tons of fish - catfish, bream, bass, etc. Please know that our fishing is limited to our registered guests only, catch & release only.
